Dr Steven Cohen

Dr. Cohen is involved in the Plastic Surgical Training program at the University of California, San Diego, where he serves as Clinical Professor and directs the Rady Children’s Hospital and UCSD Craniofacial Fellowship. In 2001 and 2011, Dr. Cohen was selected as Teacher of the Year by the plastic surgery residents. In 2009, Dr. Cohen founded the UCSD/San Diego Multidisciplinary Aesthetic Fellowship, which is the first of its kind in the U.S., involving leaders in Dermatology, Plastic Surgery, Facial Plastic Surgery and Oculoplastic Surgery.

Currently, Dr. Cohen is the section editor on Fat Grafting and Stem Cells for the Aesthetic Surgery Journal. Dr. Cohen is known throughout the world for his contributions in the treatment of children with facial deformities as well as a pioneer in Regenerative Medicine. He is the inventor of one of the first internal distraction systems, the MID system, and holds a patent on the Macropore biodegradable distraction device. In addition to his medical practice, Dr. Cohen is an entrepreneur and artist. Dr. Cohen’s paintings are in numerous private collections throughout the U.S.

He lives in La Jolla, California with his wife Sheri and they have three beautiful children. They are involved with a number of charities, including Fresh Start Surgical Gifts, where he has served on the Advisory Board.
